At Touched By An Angel Camp, we provide a whole new world of adventure, freedom, and fun through horseback riding programs designed for children with disabilities.

Horseback riding therapy gets positive physical results. Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to the human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength.

And our program is not just for kids with physical disabilities. For a child with mental or emotional disabilities, the relationship formed with a horse provides comfort and healing.
Regardless of the disability, our program can benefit a child in the following key areas:

Self-esteem
When a child who is struggling emotionally looks down for the first time from the back of a horse, there is often a dramatic and immediate increase in self-esteem.

Responsibility
A horse doesn't care about a disability. He simply needs things done, like grooming and feeding. What a great lesson in responsibility!

Accomplishment
When a disabled child can participate in an activity that many able-bodied people are reluctant to try, it gives them a keen sense of accomplishment.

Equality
Horses are non-judgmental. They perceive everyone as pretty much the same. For a disabled, being considered equal to everyone else is a wonderful feeling.
