Many lifelong friendships and memories receive their first nurturing amidst the excitement and laughter of summertime camp fun. The influence of a Christian camp can be even greater. Not only does the child grow socially and emotionally, but their spiritual growth is best nurtured in the camp setting. Unfortunately, for many years the doors of Christian camps were not open to a large number of children with disabilities. These children had already been robbed of many of the joys of childhood, due to disabilities. Constant medical treatments, hospitalizations,and protective parents cause many children with disabilities to miss some of the simple experiences of childhood.

Knowing this, Touched By An Angel Camp was founded to meet the need of a growing number of children with disabilities to have the joy of childhood restored in their lives. At Touched By An Angel Camp, it is normal to have a disability. Here, campers rest in the assurance that being different is acceptable.

They learn unconditional love and acceptance of God from counselors that are full of energy and compassion. The Touched By An Angel Camp staff encourages campers to stretch themselves and see what they can do, instead of what they cannot do. Here, physical or developmental disabilities go unnoticed. What is really important is just being at camp, experiencing God's love in a beautiful setting created by Him.

Touched By An Angel Ministries and Camp grew out of my experience of having a liver transplant and having a little sister with Down Syndrome. Many times people have talked about the things disabled people cannot do. I feel it is important to show that with God's help you can have many the same experiences that others have. Thanks to many generous donors, the camp is able to restore the wonders of childhood, without placing financial burden on the families of these special children. These generous donors are helping to realize the vision of a camp where special needs children learn about God and regain an important part of childhood.

It is an honor and a great blessing to direct Touched By An Angel Camp. The incredible children are a joy beyond belief. For the lessons, laughter, and joy over past summers and to the years to come, we thank every supporter for making this happen. We pray that you will send your special angel to our day camps and overnight camps.
