"Even Angels Need Help!" ![]() Amanda Claire Aldridge Post Office Box 2611 Tupelo, MS 38803 Hello, my name is Amanda Aldridge, and I am 15 years old and have Downs Syndrome. My brother, State Representative Brian Aldridge, started Touched By An Angel Ministries and Camp ten years ago. This is a camp for special needs children and adults in Tupelo, MS. Since my brother is in Jackson, I decided to write a letter and ask for your support with Touched By An Angel Camp. I have made many new friends during the past nine years and want more special needs individuals to come to camp. Last year, we served over 400 campers. I know first hand that people with special needs do not have the same opportunities as their peers. At Touched By An Angel Camp I am able to ride horses, paddleboat, fish, and many other activities. I look forward to the two weekend camps we have each month during the school year and the four week long camps held during the summer. Brian told me that it cost $175.00 per camper for weekend camps and $450.00 per camper for summer camps. He told me that he had to turn down over 200 campers last year because all the camps were full. This summer will be Touched By An Angel Camp’s tenth year. Brian told me in the last nine years Touched By An Angel Ministries has received $915,000 from support from generous people like you. We have just broken ground on a 6,000 square foot cabin to be completed in the fall. I am asking you to help Touched By An Angel Camp this year by helping us raise $350,000 before this summer. I am sending out 10,000 letters asking for this help. Brian told that if everyone who received one of my letters would give $35.00 we would reach our goal. Brian wants me to invite 30 campers from the Gulf Coast area this summer. Because of Hurricane Katrina a lot of our campers from the Gulf Coast will not be able to come. Brian told me this summer I will meet some new friends from Georgia and Florida. Campers are now coming from eight different states. Brian also told me that when we made our report this year to the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office that 97% of all contributions went to services for campers. He said that was very good. Would you consider making an investment in Touched By An Angel Camp so we can add additional camps, and more special needs people like me can enjoy a wonderful time at camp? Touched By An Angel Camp is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to the belief that special needs children, youth, and adults should have the right to experience life to its fullest. Love in Christ, Amanda Claire Aldridge
